Meet Samara Furlong

Samara (Johnson) Furlong brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for art to Voyeur Ventures. With an extensive background at prestigious institutions and a commitment to innovative and forward-thinking programming, Samara is a uniquely qualified figure in the art world.

Receiving a masters in Contemporary Art at Sotheby's Institute of Art in New York City, Samara honed in on her expertise with her work at the renowned Dia Art Foundation and David Zwirner Gallery. She stands on the Leadership Council at ICI (Independent Curators International) and continues to support exhibitions at the Cranbrook Art Museum.

Prior to establishing Voyeur Ventures, Samara held the position of Board Liaison at MOCAD (Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit), where she played a vital role in advancing curatorial initiatives and cultivating relationships within the artistic and local communities. Through her work, she supported exhibitions from conception to completion, overseeing fundraising efforts, organizing events, and conducting tours. This experience allowed her to develop a comprehensive understanding of the intricate dynamics between boards, museums, and the community.

With a strong desire to contribute to the cultural landscape of her hometown of Detroit, Samara continues her involvement with prominent exhibitions, including collaborations with Jill Shaw on the Van Gogh and Monet Exhibitions. She participates in ongoing work with the Silverman Collection, a Detroit based collection focusing extensively on Fluxus, part of which was donated to MoMA. Her meticulous research and deep understanding of artists, both local and international, have enabled her to craft compelling narratives and articulate the relevance of artworks within exhibitions and collections.

Dedicated to promoting inclusivity and community engagement, Samara is passionate about making art accessible to everyone. Her vision includes exhibitions featuring an authentic international selection of artists, providing educational resources, and empowering local communities. Committed to fostering partnerships and driving initiatives such as public interviews, multi-language tours, in-depth curation, and community outreach events, Samara, through Voyeur Ventures, aims to share her unwavering dedication to the arts, expertise, and established relationships with artists, galleries, and collectors with art enthusiasts worldwide.
